About UTM Builder
Create tagged campaign URLs by adding UTM parameters so analytics tools can distinguish traffic sources, marketing channels and campaign names.
Understand the five common UTM parameters
utm_source identifies where the traffic came from, such as a newsletter, partner or social platform. utm_medium describes the channel, such as email, social or paid advertising. utm_campaign identifies the specific promotion or campaign.
utm_term is commonly used to describe paid search keywords, while utm_content can distinguish links or creative variations within the same campaign. Use only the parameters relevant to your tracking plan; source, medium and campaign are the usual starting point.
Keep campaign naming consistent
Choose a simple naming convention before creating links. Analytics systems can treat differently capitalized or spelled values as separate labels, so agree on consistent values such as email, paid_social and summer_launch across your team.
Use descriptive campaign names that are easy to compare in reports. Avoid putting personal information, email addresses or confidential values into query parameters because tagged URLs can be shared, copied and recorded in analytics systems.
Build and test a tracking URL
Enter the destination page and the campaign values, then review the generated URL before sharing it. Confirm that the destination is correct, existing query parameters remain valid, and the final link opens the intended page.
UTM tags label campaign links; they do not themselves install analytics or guarantee that a visit will be recorded. Your website's analytics setup must be configured to collect and report campaign data. This builder creates the URL in your browser without sending your campaign fields to a My Karya Kit processing server.
