Use the exact destination URL
Copy the URL exactly as you intend users to open it. Check the domain, path and any required query parameters before generating the code. A QR code faithfully encodes the text you provide, so a small URL mistake becomes a scanning mistake.
For campaigns, use a stable destination page when possible. If you later need to change the destination, a redirect or controlled landing page can reduce the need to reprint the QR code.
Prioritize scanning reliability
Keep strong contrast between the code and its background, and avoid placing decorative elements over the encoded area. Choose a large enough output size for the physical distance and printing method.
After generation, scan the code with more than one device when the QR will be used in an important workflow. Test the actual printed version when print quality could affect scanning.
Check the destination, not just the pattern
A scanner can confirm that the QR code is technically readable, but the destination website still needs to be correct, secure and available. Review the page users will see after scanning before distributing the code.
Recommended workflow
- Open QR & Barcode Generator and enter the exact URL.
- Review the live QR preview.
- Choose high-contrast colors and a suitable output size.
- Download PNG or SVG depending on the publishing workflow.
- Scan the finished code and verify that it opens the intended website.
